As a commonly used pressure vessel, cylinders play an important role in industrial, medical, fire protection and other fields. However, once the cylinder is used improperly, it can bring serious hidden dangers and even endanger human life. Therefore, the correct method of using cylinders and operating skills are crucial. Below, I will combine my own learning and work experience to briefly introduce the correct use of cylinders.
First of all: check that the cylinder is in perfect condition
Before using the cylinder, it is necessary to carefully check whether the overall appearance of the cylinder is intact. If the cylinder is found to be obviously damaged, deformed, cracked or worn, it needs to be stopped immediately and sent to a professional unit for overhaul or replacement.
Second: Check for leaks
Next, the inside of the cylinder needs to be checked for leakage. The method is to turn the cylinder upside down and place a piece of tissue paper or cloth directly above it. If there are traces of liquid on the paper or cloth, it is an indication that the cylinder is leaking and needs to be treated promptly.
Step 3: Improve supporting facilities
During the use of the cylinder, it is necessary to equip it with the necessary facilities. On the one hand, it is necessary to choose a suitable cylinder rack or storage cabinet to ensure the stability of the cylinder during use and storage. On the other hand, it is necessary to select the right tools and valves to ensure that the cylinders can be easily loaded, unloaded and used.
Step 4: Correct air supply connection
When connecting the pipes between the cylinder and the gas source, special attention needs to be paid to the fit between the two. On the one hand, it is necessary to ensure that the dimensions and specifications of the connections and pipes are perfectly matched to avoid air leaks. On the other hand, it is necessary to connect the valve correctly and operate in strict accordance with the opening and closing specifications of the valve.
Step 5: Prevent the cylinder from overheating
During the use of the cylinder, special care needs to be taken to prevent the cylinder from overheating. If the surface temperature of the cylinder is found to be too high during the use of the cylinder, it is necessary to stop using it in time and place the cylinder in a cool and ventilated place to avoid accidents.
